In the morning we started our hike to Red Mountain Lookout. It was a 2500 foot gain over five miles, but we made it to the lookout. Travis was so happy about making it to the top that everything was making him laugh. We had brought our fishing poles just in case it was easy to get to the half dozen lakes below, but after looking at the route we decided to practice casting from the summit. We finished our ten mile round trip and when we walked into camp, the kids that we met on our way up came running over to see if we made it. Travis must have felt like a hero coming back from war.  He was shining, telling them how far and high the hike was and all about our planned trip to the Grand Canyon. What a kid! And what an awesome weekend.
