What a serious group! Lester bonding with Mo... A colorful crowd of Down Hillers await the cannon What flair! He'll be easy to spot! The last of the Mohicans Mo gets bunched up. The crowd gets dense too.
You call this up hill! Last year was much much tougher. Half way up and still no hill.
Mo on his way
X-Country waits and waits
Finally, the leaders make the handoff. Now for the real man's leg. This X-Country course may look like a bunny hill, but the it's actually on a 50 degree side slope with deadly 35 foot crevasses crossing the trail and the wind is screaming at 50 mph. Many a poor racer never returned from this leg.
Matt screams (like a baby) passing his competitors by the hundreds... :) To my surprise, Lester was right out in front. Thought he'd be off tying his shoes somewhere. This didn't come out very clear cause I was busy falling on my ass, but I thought it was worth putting in the show since it was Lester's very last real smile for the remainder of the day. He was so sore after this race that the next day on our way back to Boise, I caught him pacing the curb in front of one of our rest stops, looking for the low point so he wouldn't have to step down that extra inch. It was a gorgeous day though. Still can't help taking pictures of this beauty. Lynette grinning out a high-g turn. This one too. This was Lynette's first S2S and she was pretty jazzed having just finished the race. And she didn't even get lost!

Dani finished her first Mt. Bike leg in grand style. She stopped a little more gracefull than the guy before her who hit the front brakes and flipped over his handlebars with the bike still attached. Okay... so maybe most of these boats were gone by the time our team got there. What is your point_ Michelle faught a major head wind For a long time While we waited the end of a very fun race One last dinner, and that is all she wrote.
p.s. Lester picking on Tyler after the race. |
