Mouse in the House

It happened one night, oh about two am,
When hubby let that darn ole tom cat in.
Didn’t turn the lights on, just opened up the door,
Kat hesitated slightly, then dropped it on the floor.

Pard thought nothing of it as he slipped back abed,
But this furry night, he surly would  come to dread.
For there on the counter top early next morn,
Something small and black and not at all the norm,

I squealed and jumped back, and ran like a flash!
A “MOUSE IN THIS HOUSE!” in our food cache.
Now my hubby he knows trouble, has just barely started,
Cause a “MOUSE IN THE HOUSE!” makes me fainthearted.

Soothing, calming words are spoken with a pat,
“I’ll get him right away!, You can count on that!”
But that mouse he was wilely and wouldn’t be caught,
He sorta liked this little cabin where he picked to squat,

All over traps were set, not a single one clicked shut,
After three hairaising days, I’d become a crazy nut.
I'd open up a drawer and he’d be peaking up at me
“I can’t take it anymore!"I yelled, "Get him fast I plea!”

As I laid sleeping soundly in my bed that night,
I heard something playing in my closet on the right.
Flip goes the light, sitting straight up in my bed,
He had long ears and smiles, and is looking to be fed!.

So I barracade him in the bedroom at two am,
Broom in my hand, This mighty woman will condemn.
But he hops along fast and just laughs at me again,
“Good Lord!, I ‘m gonna wind up in the county loony bin”.

After sitting up all night, stealthly waiting for the kill,
I opened up a dresser drawer, and let out quite a shrill.
Son says “Ma, this is a man’s job!”, now you go sit outside,
He slips into the bedroom with his  newly wed bride!!!.

Yikes,Me thinks, Outside does seem the place for me,
Then all of a sudden I hear them shout for glee.
He ran from the bedroom  with the drawer in hand,
Little wife had thrown a blanket over, just as planned.

But this guy was made at Disney, and jumped right atop,
And the Macho Son almost skidded to a wobbly full stop.
But out the door they made it, just in the nick of time,
Lord, I thought I’d never finish this Disney little rhyme!.

( A new home was found just up the hill a way. A special
little mousy hole where he could live and play!.
