We had a small crew this year… we were down to Mason, James, Lynette and myself, but it proved to be one of the best runs to date. The weather was perfect and we have the logistics down to a science.
Playing Big Bang in the car on the way to Pullman made the trip go fast. Mason ran the board, James threw the dice and I read the questions. But some of those questions! Who could possibly know the name of the janitor at the knowledge bowl? Anyway, between the game and the fact that Lynette drove the whole way the trip was fast and easy.
Of course we had to stop at Cougar Country Café for the best burgers in on the planet. It always amazes me how busy that place is every time we stop in. They’re not cheap either so somebody’s making some bucks. I like the way it never seems to change though. Change could only mess it up.
We brought the dogs along again this year so after picking up our bibs, we headed out to a park to let them stretch their legs. The grapes hit the spot and the loose Rottweiler’s made us jump for the leashes, and we simply enjoyed being outside on such a gorgeous day.
We managed to get a copy of “Scar Face” on line and watched it on the little lap top screen. The speaker was way too quite, but Lynette managed to patch in the speaker the boys got her for Christmas and the show was watchable, even though it quit right before the big gun battle at the end. That was okay, we got a good laugh and it was lights out.

On race day, we parked under the freeway to keep the dogs out of the sun while we ran. But I ended up backing into a parking spot that was hiding a little surprise (say hello to my little friend?). I ended up running over a wheel from an abandoned baby stroller and the axel went straight into the tire.
We knew we’d have to deal with it after the race but proceeded to the starting line-up and let that problem wait.

We all started in green this year to hang out with Lynette. James and I decided to see if we could get exactly the same official time. We’d have to cross both the start and finish lines side-by-side and hope that the tag readers wouldn’t pick one of us up before the other. And we DID IT! Exactly the same time, to the second!

No need to worry about littering up the place when you toss your sweatshirts into the trees at the start of the race… they get collected and go to the Salvation Army or some other charity for reuse.
