Steve Durnal and I headed to Bugus for some back country skiing. After taking the Superior chair we headed over to Mores Mountain and took a run down the north side in very nice powder. Once at the bottom, instead of back tracking, we continued north, climbed a few hundred feet and ended up at the top of Computer Girl (see rock climbing). Nobody had touched this slope since we got dumped on, actually, I’d bet nobody had skied this all season. The powder was pristine. It was pretty steep and we knew there weren’t a lot of ground obstacles to hold the snow so we played it safe and skied closer to the shoot on each of two laps. Then on the final lap we skied right down the middle. It was amazing! I absolutely loved doing laps there and I’ll go back for sure. When we’d had enough, we skinned south on the cross-country highway a half mile or so, then took off our skins and skied down to the bottom of the Superior chair where we did a little boot work to get to the lift.
An amazing day for certain.
